Nolan Rapoza stars in "MINER", part 1 of his sick new movie.
MINER.
A film that began with Nolan and Blake stuck on a greyhound fighting out a storm on the East Coast and concluded on a 40ft boat eating fresh seafood in the Mentawai islands. Nolan and Blake tossed around the idea of making a short film together for some time now. However, like many surfers the beginning of the project was far from planned out and organized. It all began with a phone call from the east coast about winter storm “Riley” a massive purple blob on the charts!
This was the storm that turned parts of the east coast into looking like Namibia, Africa! They boys scrabbled to LAX only to fly straight into the heart of the storm. A canceled flight, a 13hr bus rides and an Uber ride off the side of the freeway, finally the boys they made their way to pumping waves. After countless barrels and way too, many pit stops at Wawa’s the two of them parted ways as Nolan headed off to Florida to handle contest business.
Both of them unaware that this was the first ate of many to become the makings of “Miner”.
Throughout the next few months the boys strategized film trips around Nolan contest schedule, and the footage kept pouring in and hard drives started to fill up! After a busy six months of chasing each other down in order to film as much as possible, they were finally able to take a step back and evaluate all their hard work. They realized they were much closer to their short film goal than they ever thought, and it was just a matter of piecing the puzzle together to create what is now Miner!

How to Hit the Ground Running on the North Shore Featuring Brett Barley and the rest of Team O'Neill
On the North Shore in winter, there is no downtime. When it’s small, as it was last week, there’s always punting at Rocky Lefts, carving at Rocky Rights and sneaking in the odd, chunky barrel at Pipe. (Further proof that Brett Barley will find a barrel anywhere, anytime.) Staying active is key, even if it’s not textbook, tradewind-groomed perfection. Especially given that a much bigger series of swells are on the way. Stay tuned.
